Pointed Paddles

DESCRIPTION:

Three paddles used for propulsion of canoes. The decoration on the paddles helps to identify the relationship that some tribes had with the water. The canoe was a vital mode of transportation, and so water was a gift to the Haida to allow them to travel and as a source of food.   The long, sharp points could also double up as weapons, most likely to help with fishing.
