This ladle is made from Mountain Goat Horn and features a handle incised with a composition similar to monumental totem poles. The mountain goat horn were steamed, bent into shape, cooled in a mould, and then carved. The mountain goat spoons are remarkably uniform throughout the coast. This spoon would be used for formal occasions due to the size and the elaborately sculpted handle which design is likely to display family myths or crests.
